“So, What Exactly Do You Do for Work?”
It’s the question many affiliate marketers dread. You scramble to find a simple explanation, only to be met with that familiar “blank stare” that tells you your explanation missed the mark.
Let’s simplify it.
Instead of owning a physical shoe store, imagine partnering with established brands like Nike or Xero. They allow you to promote their products online, and in exchange, they pay you a commission for every sale you generate.
Now, imagine doing that for ten different companies. You share products you believe in, solve problems for your audience, and receive a commission check from each partner every month.
Beyond the Basics
While the “digital storefront” is the easiest explanation, the world of online business is much broader. Many creators eventually cut out the middleman by:
-
Creating Digital Products: Writing e-books or filming courses.
-
Direct-to-Consumer Sales: Selling your own expertise directly to the people who need it.
The Ground Rules
Of course, it isn’t the Wild West. There are FTC guidelines and brand-specific rules to follow, but these are simple “rules of the game” that ensure transparency and trust with your audience.
So, the next time someone asks me what I do? I’m sending them straight to this post.
TOMORROW: I will share with you a Group I belong to where you can get training to do this yourself. It will start you on the path from a Beginner Level and help you along the way with a Community that wants to see you succeed.
