“Day One – The Beginning”
New Year, New Beginnings: My Journey Starts Today
It’s a new year, and I’m making a commitment to show up here every day. Whether the updates are long or short, I’m embarking on a season of significant life changes, and I’ve decided to share that journey with you—the highs, the lows, and everything in between.
The Physical Challenge: Reclaiming My Health
As many of you know, sitting behind a desk for 8 to 9 hours a day takes its toll. I’ve packed on more weight than I care to admit, and my goal for 2026 is to lose 60 lbs.
The reality is that losing weight at over 60 years old is a different beast, but I’m ready for the challenge. I’ve already invested in a walking pad for my office and I’m overhauling my diet. While I’ve never been a huge fan of vegetables, I’m taking my wife’s advice and trading processed sugar for fruits and greens. Step one? Cutting out alcohol entirely for the year. It’s empty sugar that my body simply doesn’t need.
UPDATE: This is the exact Walking Pad I got over Christmas. My wife has been using it and lost over 6 lbs in a few weeks wahoo!!!!!
Finding the Light in British Columbia
Living on the B.C. coast, we’re currently in the thick of the rainy season. It’s easy to feel sluggish or succumb to seasonal blues when the sun disappears for weeks. I’m not sure if it’s the weather or just the unhealthy habits, but I’ve been tired for too long.
There’s no excuse—we have world-class parks right in our backyard. My plan is to get out more, breathe the fresh air, and get back on the trails.
Spiritual and Professional Reset
Beyond the physical, I’m refocusing on my foundation. I make no bones about being a Christian, but I know I need to be more intentional. This year is about deeper Bible study and taking real time to commune with God.
On the business front, the “break” is over. I’m coming back full force. My goal has never been about chasing “influencer” status or overnight riches; it’s about the work. If success follows, I’ll welcome it, but the priority is the process.
Why I’m Sharing This
I’m starting over in 2026 to inspire others, share my failures as much as my successes, and build a community of like-minded people.
New beginnings are a gift. Let’s see where this one leads.
